One of the best-received features of the OnePlus 5T was the relatively secure face unlock, which made it quick and easy to get into the phone. Unfortunately, this feature wasn’t included with the slightly older OnePlus 5 at first, but now, face unlocking is out of beta and available to everyone with a 2017 OnePlus.

OnePlus 5T allegedly cancelled, OnePlus 6 to launch in early 2018

If you were holding out for a OnePlus 5T, perhaps you shouldn’t – the rumor mill thinks that it’s not happening. Instead, the launch of the OnePlus 6 has been pulled up to early 2018.

Last year, the company launched the 3T as a way to switch to the +1 version of the chipset (Snapdragon 820 to 821) and to raise the price a bit. Well, they did upgrade the selfie cam too.

This year, there will be no +1 for the Snapdragon 835 this year and OnePlus already played the dual camera card. Plus, it offers generous storage and RAM, so there’s not much for a T version to upgrade. What will the OnePlus 6 be like? Tough to tell for now, but a move to a 6” screen – the first bump in screen size of the series – is not unlikely, especially if combined with an 18:9 screen and a bezel-less design. If that’s true, we’ll hear from Carl Pei and co. about it early on in the hype cycle.

Google launches Tez, a new digital payment app for India; here’s everything you need to know

Getting started with Google Tez

Available as a standalone app on Android and iOS, Google Tez supports several regional languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Tez is compatible with over 50 banks in the country that support UPI.
Like all UPI-based apps, Tez requires your phone number for adding a bank account. Once the number is verified via one-time password (OTP), the app will request the UPI VPA (Virtual Payment Address) if you’ve created one in the past, else take you through the process of creating a new ID. Next up, you’d be able to set up a PIN, and you’ll be good to go.

You would be able to see all your contacts who are using Tez on the app, and request or pay money.

How to make transactions using Google Tez

Like with all UPI-based apps, you can transfer money using the UPI address to anyone who has a UPI-supported bank account. To start a transaction, you need to tap the blue icon. People you’ve transacted with recently will appear beside that icon and below that, there will be a listing of businesses.

The unique proposition from Google though is the ‘Cash Mode’ in Tez. It allows you to instantly transfer cash to anyone nearby without the need to share your contact or bank details (neither scanning a QR code), similar to sharing photos over Bluetooth for example.

OnePlus 5 to Be Available in Croma Stores Across India From September 19

The OnePlus 5 was launched in India in Junethis year, and it was made available on Amazon India, and the OnePlus store online. If you wanted to buy it offline, the only way you could do it was head over to the OnePlus Experience Stores in Delhi and Bengaluru. Now, in a bid to begin charting its offline presence in India, the company has announced that the OnePlus 5 will be made available in Croma retail outlets across India as well.

This is the first time OnePlus has collaborated with a retail outlet to sell its smartphones offline in India. The company first had an exclusive partnership with Amazon India, and then branched out the capacity to its official OnePlus online store. Only recently, did OnePlus launch its experience stores in the two cities, with a promise for expansion in more cities eventually. It also sets up pop-up stores in various cities during initial launch days for users to be able to try out the smartphone, and buy it there instantly. But that is usually a temporary affair, after which users had to rely on Amazon or OnePlus online store for the purchase of the smartphone. Now, for the first time, OnePlus will make its OnePlus 5 flagship available in Croma retail outlets across the country from September 19.Promotional offers that will be applicable while buying through Croma have not been revealed yet.
